Safety Footwear Guide

ASTM F2413
The official standard for safety toe protective footwear in the United States.

Composite Toe
Composite Protective Toe Caps are made of a non-metallic rigid polymer, which is lightweight and will not conduct heat, cold or electricity.

Static Dissipative (SD)
Static Dissipative footwear allows static electricity to transfer from the wearer to the walking surface, thereby protecting equipment such as sensitive electronic devices from static electric discharge which could damage the equipment.

Metatarsal Guard (Met Guard)
A reinforced layer in the metatarsal portion of the footwear that protects the metatarsal bones by deflecting falling objects and absorbing impact energy. Meets or exceeds the ASTM F2413 standard for metatarsal protective footwear.

Steel Toe
Non-corrosive protective toe cap. Meets or exceeds the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear.

Slip Resistant
Soles designed and tested to provide a high coefficient of friction with the walking surface to improve slip resistance in Dry and West conditions.

Slip Resistant SRO
Soles designed and tested to provide a high coefficient of friction with the walking surface to improve slip resistance in Dry, Wet and Oily/Wet conditions.

Electrical Hazard (EH)
Electrical Hazard footwear provides a source of protection to the wearer from electrical shock in environments where the wearer may accidentally step on a live wire or charged electrical equipment.

Waterproof
A combination of water-resistant materials and construction which helps protect the foot from getting wet in environments where excess water is present.
